BEAUTY: SKINCARE THAT WORKS- UNDER $20

Who says taking care of your skin has to cost an arm and a leg? Sure, you don't want to cut costs where it matters. Go all out for your monthly facial appointments and at-home serums. I'm not against racking up a bill with life-saving skin necessities such as the PMD Personal Microderm and this amazing pumpkin enzyme mask by Peter Thomas Roth (yes, it works wonders)

The truth is, taking care of your skin and treating your skin ailments only come down to a few key ingredients. Of course, depending on what you are looking for and skin type, these ingredients can vary. These products I swear by are the best of the best- great for all skin types, available at shockingly low prices, and will bring you incredible results you can see- and feel- in days. Soon enough, you'll be skipping your facial appointment and your daily foundation. Who needs makeup when you've got great skin?

Here are a few beauty finds under $20 that work.

The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution - $8.70

This product is a great, intensive at-home skin treatment if you are looking to smooth out uneven skin texture or simply to boost radiance to achieve glowing skin. Also a great way to prevent and treat breakouts. Use ideally once daily after cleansing your skin. According to The Ordinary, this product is recommended to be used in the PM, as this product contains alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) which will increase your skin's sensitivity to the sun after use. Make sure to wear your sunscreen in the morning!

The Ordinary Lactic Acid 10% + HA - $6.80

This product has very similar benefits to that of The Ordinary Glycolic Acid Toning Solution, but is slightly gentler on the skin. This is a high-strength superficial peeling formula that can be diluted with other skin solutions until the skin adapts to this strength of acid. Immediate results are smoother skin texture, brighter skin, and overall radiance. Like the Glycolic toner, it is recommended by The Ordinary to use once daily in the PM. For a gentler solution, check out the same product available at 5% (around the same price).

Cerave Skin Renewing Night Cream - $18.49

Cerave is a brand developed with dermatologists and enriched with Ceramides, which naturally help repair and strengthen the skin. This product is just one of many products I recommend from this brand. Its entire line of products are budget-friendly and guaranteed to hydrate, repair, and replenish the skin. Each product is able to be used on just about any part of the body, allowing maximum use and benefits at a third of the cost. Use this (or any other Cerave product) to treat dry skin, acne, rashes, and even skin conditions such as eczema.

Pixi Glow Tonic - $15

The ultimate skincare holy grail. If you're looking for something both gentle on the skin but also aggressively cleans, exfoliates, and tones- look no further. One sweep across the face after cleansing (both AM and PM) and you'll have visibly clearer, glowing skin and smaller pores in just 2 days. This product contains 5% Glycolic Acid- just the right amount to help prevent and fight breakouts while gentle enough to use twice daily. It's also infused with Aloe Vera to help soothe and hydrate skin. You can purchase this in the form of to-go pads ($18), 100mL ($15), or 250 mL ($29)- trust me, you'll want to stock up on this.

Glossier Priming Moisturizer - $22

Perfect for sensitive skin and all other skin types. This is a light, buildable moisturizer that has anti-redness components and oxygenating agents that help reduce the appearance of pores. The perfect first layer for skin before makeup- or simply use as a moisturizer without!

Aveeno Positively Mineral Sunscreen for Sensitive Skin - $7.69

Good skincare is no use if you don't protect your skin from the sun's harmful rays. Too much exposure to UV rays can cause wrinkles, dark spots, sunburn, and skin cancer to name a few. In other words, sunscreen is always a great idea. If you're like me (sensitive & oily skin), finding a good sunscreen that doesn't cause breakouts is a true struggle. I've tried every brand from drugstore to luxury and this Aveeno product seems to do the job best. With broad spectrum 50 SPF and infused with 100% Zinc Oxide, this product gentle on the skin and with its lightweight, oil-free finish while offering a tough skin shield.

The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution - $7.20

The Ordinary is dominating this list- with good reason. Their products are developed with scientific precision for guaranteed results for all your skin needs. This product is basically your at-home chemical peel dream. Fair warning- like all chemical peels, this is not recommended for sensitive, peeling, or compromised skin as it contains a very high concentration of direct acids. Leave it on for 10 minutes or less to peel away the skin's topmost surface to reveal new, brighter skin underneath. Do not leave on for more than 10 minutes. This product contains alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) which will increase your skin's sensitivity to the sun after use. Make sure to wear plenty of sunscreen daily!
